Trump Sets 10-Day Deadline for Iran Nuclear Deal

Donald Trump has said the world will know within the next “10 days” whether the United States reaches a nuclear deal with Iran or moves toward possible military action.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting of his newly formed Board of Peace in Washington, Trump acknowledged that negotiations with Tehran have been “very good” but historically difficult. He hinted that if diplomacy fails, the US “may have to take it a step further.”

Military Build-Up and Diplomatic Push

In recent days, the US has increased its military presence in the Middle East, including the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. At the same time, progress has reportedly been made in talks between American and Iranian negotiators in Switzerland.

Trump praised Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for holding “very good meetings” with Iranian officials. However, tensions remain high. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued strong warnings on social media, suggesting US forces in the region could face retaliation.

Congressional Concerns

Several members of Congress, including Democrat Ro Khanna and Republican Thomas Massie, have voiced opposition to any military action without approval under the 1973 War Powers Act. Lawmakers argue that a war with Iran could be catastrophic, putting thousands of US troops at risk.

While diplomatic efforts continue, the next 10 days could prove decisive in determining whether Washington and Tehran move toward compromise or confrontation. Source BBC
