Gas Prices Surge Worldwide After Iran Attacks Hit QatarEnergy Facilities

The Middle East conflict is now affecting the global energy market. After recent Iranian drone attacks, the world’s largest LNG producer, QatarEnergy, has temporarily stopped its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.

According to officials, two drones targeted energy facilities in Qatar, including industrial areas in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed. Although there were no reported human casualties, the attacks forced the company to stop production as a safety precaution.

Because Qatar is one of the biggest suppliers of LNG in the world, this decision quickly affected international energy markets. Gas prices in Europe and Asia jumped sharply within hours of the announcement. European benchmark gas prices rose significantly, while Asian LNG prices also increased.

At the same time, Saudi Arabia reported a drone attack near the major Ras Tanura oil refinery. The facility experienced a small fire but authorities confirmed that the damage was limited and no one was injured.

Energy experts say these incidents could create uncertainty in global oil and gas supply, especially because many oil tankers travel through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for energy shipments.

Due to rising tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, analysts believe the conflict could continue to influence global energy markets and increase fuel prices in the coming weeks.

Countries in the Gulf region have also condemned the attacks and warned that they may take further steps to protect their security and energy infrastructure.

If the conflict continues, it may not only affect regional stability but also the global economy, as energy prices remain closely tied to political tensions in the Middle East. Source Al jazeera
