Russian Drone Strike Kills Father and Three Children in Ukraine, Pregnant Mother Survives

A devastating Russian drone attack has killed a father and his three young children in northeastern Ukraine, leaving a pregnant mother as the sole survivor of the family.

The overnight strike targeted a private home in Bohodukhiv, a town located near the Russian border in the Kharkiv region. Ukrainian officials confirmed that the drone completely destroyed the house, trapping the family under the rubble.

The victims include a 34-year-old father and his three children — two-year-old twin boys and their one-year-old sister. Rescue teams managed to pull the children’s 35-weeks-pregnant mother alive from the debris. She suffered blast injuries, burns, hearing damage, and a traumatic brain injury but survived. Authorities later confirmed she was treated and released from hospital.

Local officials declared three days of mourning in Bohodukhiv. The town’s mayor described the tragedy as the loss of “our future,” expressing grief over the deaths of the young children.

According to regional authorities, the family had recently moved to Bohodukhiv hoping to escape ongoing shelling in other areas. The attack reportedly happened on their first night in the new house.

More Attacks Across Ukraine

The violence did not stop there. In a separate drone strike in the Sumy region, at least two more children were killed. Ukrainian officials reported that 129 long-range drones were launched overnight across multiple regions, targeting civilian infrastructure including a hospital in Zaporizhzhia and railway facilities in several cities.

Ukraine’s air force said most of the drones were intercepted, but several strikes caused casualties and damage.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the continued attacks show that Russia is not preparing to end the war. He stressed that stronger international pressure and firm security guarantees are necessary to stop further civilian deaths.

Meanwhile, Ukraine also reported strikes on Russian military targets, while Russian authorities claimed they had shot down dozens of Ukrainian drones overnight.

The war, now approaching its fourth year, continues to claim civilian lives despite diplomatic efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict.
