India vs Pakistan Showdown Set for February 15 After Breakthrough Talks : Source

The highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India at the T20 World Cup is set to go ahead as scheduled following successful talks with the International Cricket Council (ICC), sources have confirmed.

A formal request has been submitted to the Government of Pakistan in this regard, which was confirmed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesperson Amir Mir.

The decision came after a crucial meeting held in Lahore on Sunday with an ICC delegation led by Deputy Chairman Imran Khwaja. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Aminul Islam Bulbul was also present during the high-profile discussions.

The development follows uncertainty surrounding the blockbuster encounter between the arch-rivals, widely regarded as one of the most commercially significant matches in world cricket. Earlier, the Government of Pakistan had directed the national team not to play against India in Colombo.

Scheduled for February 15, the match carries massive financial and competitive importance for the tournament.

The 20-team T20 World Cup has already been affected by political tensions. Bangladesh had refused to play matches in India due to security concerns and was subsequently replaced by Scotland.

In response to these developments, the Pakistan government had barred the national side from participating in the Group A match against co-hosts India.

Pakistan, who began their campaign with a victory over the Netherlands on February 7, faced the risk of losing two crucial points and suffering a major setback to their net run rate had they forfeited the contest.
